16th Jan 2025 boat visit

after the snow and cold snap after new year it was time to go check the boat and try do some stuff.

recover my impact wrench , check the 12v 7ah batt charging , check the 35amp battery charger victron.

make a template for the mast support beam , quick tidy , check stanchion fitting , the bolt needs replacing as old and worn , it has nothing to screw into so i might have to put some jb weld in the hole and let it set in place,

it was reported the lane to the boat park was closed but u had access so no problem.

Roof template was harder to do as the roof was a awkward shape and needed second pair if hands to hold the wood plank to trace shape onto , in the end i git the template level got the shape and transfered to a piece of wood i had  left middle and right, just got to connect them up and cut out  lol

swapped out the small batt for the big one and now running on the bigger solar panel as well

lots to do but starting them is another, ordered some 16amp 12v wire so i can run some if needed 

it was nice and sunny but forgot my phone so no pictures only the one from the webcam

 snow seems to have evaded Aberystwyth when at home we had it settle properly monday onward , with below zero temps overnight and during the day

not sure this is doing the job but in place while the new one is charging batt

 5th Jan and after a few more more windy weekends and threatened snow storms overnight i had to pop into town to get some shopping, at the same timea boat check was done

all was ok and nothing untoward unlike last times boat creeping across the car park .

i dropped of some kit   cockpit cushions as they were not needed at home 

took some solar panels and connected them upto the lead acid batt that came with the boat

the 7ah i had as a back up trickle charge with the solar panel on top wasn't really coping 

again it was flatish so that was removed and replaced again 

i now connected a 35w solar panel in the cockpit under the perspex barge boards onto a victron mmpt controller all with the wago style connectors, they make everything so simple

, i didnt have my impact screwdriver so i couldn't swap it over with other controller.

a few other checks were done and then it was time to go home for dinner 

weather was very wet and misty  

30th December boat visit another storm brewing

 new years day another storm is predicted so a visit to the boat was needed to put some straps tp stop the boat drifting forward by the wind. everything was checked and all ok, the 4g cam battery was changed as maybe not so much solar to keep the backup charged , a charged battery was replaced being handy a size to swap out and bring home. no more water in the centre well in the cabin so thats good, checked the profile for the mast support project but thats another day to do properly

Boat visit 23Rd Dec

 well after storm Darragh and a nother windy weekend we were in town for a xmas lunch 

found the boat halfway across the entrance the green chocks didnt stop it moving 

mast on the ground was ok , moved boat back into position, loaded up a few bits that were not needed at home and brought home the port window surround and framework. i think the trailer needs abit of a tie off to the railing , some water in the cabin but thats expected with the gap in the cockpit cover
