0700 depart for Newquay on a 14-20knoty forecast,

swapped over my new rudder on Mutley93 then waited for everyone to show.

we headed out and past the breakwater it was choppy and boat heeled over in breaking waves, the course was in the bay thank god

start was pin andd pier to no2 then 4 the rnli bouy cross the line 3 laps.

with Jon onboard i had a good lesson how to winch properly, all good fun.

we worked hard and got 2nd on water and result behind wonderwall

a long trip to Cardiff pick Chris S up from NewQuay.

arrived by 1700 ish and we set about checking boat after it had not been used for a few months

we motored out of the marina to pick up Rosie Davies, with Martin W on the helm..

we did our pratice tacks and spinaker hoists.

the area wasnt that big and was very crowded. lots of shouts for water at marks and potential damaged boats , Chris worked like a demon doing the spinaker hoists and pull downs, the laps were very short so the race was full on and very tireing.

after the race we had a gentle sail around to thank the committee boat then headed back to the marina  stowed the boat away and then up to the club for a welcome few pints

8.6nm 2h51m

after dropping chris off we finally got home around 0100.

needless to say i was very tired and slept well

Aberaeron Regatta day 3 R3 R4

r3

set off early to sort Mutley93 and get hiim onto the slip way while it was low tide.

then it was a wait for the tide to come in, which it did quickly, Martin and Trystan showed up and eventually we got the dinghy out to the boat and then we were afloat.

we set sail as we were running late the wind got upto 22 knots going over to aberaeron and trystan put a reef in the main.

wind then dropped off as we got to ABeraeron and the start was slight delayed to allow us to start.

we had a good start and led all the way around, my job today was main and traveler and tyrstan did the winches for job.

it was hard work but paid off 1h18 race time , next in was about 3 mins behind.

after a cup of tea the race got under way with some rather starnge start sequances

first notice we got  1minute to go lol

it was close racing all around lap 1 with a very close call at the line which made us do turns#

we caught back up and 2nd on the water

no idea of results as yet.

sail to Aberaeron and r3  9.1nm 2h01

8.9nm 1h54 r4 and return to New Quay

Cara of Menai

Saturday 2 July 2022

NQYC KBR R1

 wind was forecast 12-15knts

10 boats started , crew were john simpson , Ceri Jones skipper Martin Seal.

course was North (S),

 Aberaeron (P), 52 14.74N 004 16.29W

Cwmtydu (P), 52 12.77N 004 24.396W

Finish Pier head one lap.

rave was very good enjoyed it, even had a cup of tea on the beat to Cwmtydu.

we misjudged where that mark was because we didt input it into the gps.

the sea got a bit choppy in that area as well, rounding the mark Martin really needed someone to be on the mainsheet as we struglled to get around, lesson learned.

the Hawks did well and we didnt, but we enjoyed the sail.

after we had a little picnic reflecting on the race , a few beers in the club after and then a very deep sleep

the finish chased by 2 Hawks

our rather heeled departure from the Cwmtydu mark
