Rescue Aguila Sunday 8th September 2024

after storm Lillian decided to unmast the boat by first flogging the jib which rattled the bottlescrews loose and the mast went over riooing the stanchion out and the mast block and tabernacle luckily it didnt damage the FF15 next door.

the mast was on the fllor thanks to Mark walsh for comming to the rescue

this was then moved to a safer place as it was in the way

Ritchie said it needed to be moved safer and today Sunday i went up to sort it out.

all the rigging was put in nice straingt lines and secured so we could carry it to the boat that had now moved closer to the entrance nr where i used to keep ERL2007.

tidying the rigging was a great chance to know what was what and between us i am now more aware of what goes where

my mooring bouy on 18 was recovered with a nice trip in the green rib , it was poring with rain and no wind

the mooring strop and bouy was recovered easily and stowed on board

after a gander around the baots i headed back to shore , we then put the mast on top of the boat with the aid of a 3rd pair of hands, it was strapped on initially so it didnt fall off the boat.

Les kidly brought me a nice piece of oak nicely shaped for the mast block

the boat was checked inside and just a bit of water was on the floor not much considering .

the boom was stowed away inside after just being in the coackpit all summer

a few things removed to take home , a nice cup of coffe to warm up and then it was time to drived home in the pouring rain  following all the sunday snails , now i know why i dont travel to Bala on sundays anymore .

some go pro footage was taken just for something to film and put on youtube as well of the rib ride .

more to follow
